Residential Services

Trash And Recycling

The city handles weekly trash and recycling collection on Fridays. If a holiday falls during the week, pickup is on Saturday.

  • TRASH — Limited to 2 bags, placed curbside. Tag additional bags with stickers purchased at Westlake Ace Hardware or Price Chopper.
  • RECYCLING — There are no limits on the amount of recycling residents may set out. You must place the recycling curbside in a blue or black recycling bin. Extra recyclables can be in cardboard boxes, paper bags, or plastic tubs next to the standard recycling bin. Items do not need to be separated. You can find the list of acceptable items for recycling here.
  • BULKY ITEMS — Bulky items that will not fit in bags are picked up for free if residents contact the city to make an appointment for pickup.

Citywide Leaf And Brush Pickup

Leaves and brush are collected twice a year by the city. You may put out up to 20 bags or bundles.

Generally, collection occurs during the last week of October and again during the first week of December. The specific dates will be posted each year on the HOA calendar as soon as they are available.

Hazardous Waste

Kansas City offers free disposal of hazardous waste for residents. Acceptable items include paint, batteries, pesticides, and more. The disposal site is conveniently located near Brookhill, just across the river at 4707 Deramus Ave.

Snow Removal

Postal Services

The Brookhill HOA does not provide any service for the neighborhood cluster boxes, nor do they have a copy of any of the keys. Direct all questions and requests to the Postal Service. The Post Office assigned to Brookhill mail delivery is:

Hodge Park Carrier Annex
4701 NE Barry Rd
Kansas City, MO 64156–1296
(816) 734–2459

Note that this is not the closer Vivion Road Post Office.

The Postal Service delivers Brookhill mail to USPS-owned cluster boxes with parcel lockers. According to information on the USPS website:

  • USPS should change the lock on your mail compartment when you move in and provide you with three keys at no charge.
  • You are allowed to make duplicates of your mail compartment key.
  • USPS does not keep duplicates of the mail compartment key, so USPS must replace the lock and keys at your expense if you lose all of them.
  • You should return your mail compartment keys to USPS when you move out.

City Help Desk And Emergency Services

For non-emergency calls, Brookhill residents can contact the police (Shoal Creek Patrol Division) at (816) 234–5111, and fire at (816) 513–4600

Other Residential Services

The Brookhill HOA does not endorse any particular local businesses for residential services. If you’re interested in neighbor recommendations for pest control, tree trimming, lawn service, or other services, please feel free to ask on our residents-only discussion forum.
